Overview
Department of Economics in University of Layyah. In light of the importance of economics and the present demand for the degree, the University of Layyah offers a master's degree in the discipline. The subject is crucial to addressing the socioeconomic needs of our society. The department of economics aims to produce graduates with professional competency in a number of subfields, including financial economics, econometrics, microeconomics, and macroeconomics. The department provides a thorough understanding of economic theories, regulations, and applications in real life. Students and teachers investigate important topics like market behavior, resource allocation, income distribution, and economic development through in-depth study and research. Additionally, the department gives students the analytical skills and resources they need to think critically and make well-informed decisions in a variety of subjects, including as business, finance, public policy, and international relations.
Main objectives of these programs are following: -
I. To prepare and train the students of this region to serve as intellectual resource hub.
II. To make significant contribution towards the economic betterment of Pakistan.
III. To develop the economy of Pakistan.
In line with the decision of Higher Education Commission (HEC), the Department of Economics started BS 4-year program, from the academic session 2010-11. The main purpose of this program is to expose students to a broad spectrum of economic concepts, theories and economic analysis. The curriculum provides a strong and broadening overview of economic thought and policy and intends to prepare students for productive careers.
The program trains students to be real life problem solvers so that upon graduation they are ready to be employed in business, financial institutes, public and private research institutions.
Eligibility for MSC
I. The candidates who have passed BA/BSC Examination, securing at least 45% marks in aggregate are eligible for admission to MSC Economics.
II. The Maximum age limit is 26 years.
Eligibility for BS (4-Year) Program
I. Intermediate (FA/FSC) or equivalent with minimum 45% marks from a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Pakistan.
II. The Maximum age limit is 26 years.
Determination of Merit
The merit will be determined according to the criteria laid down by the university.
Scheme of Studies available with the Department
