The Department of Plant Production & Biotechnology at the University of Layyah is dedicated to advancing agricultural science through modern research, innovation, and education. This department integrates the principles of plant sciences, biotechnology, genetics, and sustainable agriculture to enhance crop productivity, improve food security, and promote environmentally responsible farming practices.
Our program prepares students to tackle the growing challenges of climate change, food scarcity, and sustainable crop production through the application of biotechnological tools and scientific research. By combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on laboratory and field experience, students develop the expertise required to make meaningful contributions to agricultural innovation and environmental sustainability.
The department follows the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan’s guidelines, ensuring a curriculum that meets both national agricultural priorities and international scientific standards.
The Department of Plant Production & Biotechnology aims to:
Provide a strong foundation in plant biology, genetics, physiology, and biotechnology.
Equip students with the skills to use biotechnological tools for improving crop yield, resistance, and quality.
Foster an understanding of sustainable and climate-smart agriculture.
Promote research and innovation in genetic engineering, molecular breeding, and plant protection.
Prepare graduates to meet the demands of modern agricultural industries and research institutions.
